Nomad Limit · last updated 26 August 2026
Your trips, the passports you hold, and your settings are stored on your device. If you are signed in to iCloud, they also sync to your own private iCloud database, which only you can read — we have no access to it and no way to request it.
If — and only if — you switch on Automatic tracking, the app uses your location to work out which country you are in.
The app is completely functional with location switched off. You can add trips yourself and every feature except automatic detection works identically.
A travel circle lets you and the people you travel with see where each of you is and when each of you has to leave. It is off unless you start one, and it is an iCloud share between you and the people you invite — not a service we run.
When you are in a circle, your device publishes exactly six things, and nothing else:
Not shared, ever: your coordinates, your address, the city you are in, your trip history, your passports, your permits, or anything at all about anybody who is not in the circle. The map shows a pin on a country, drawn from outlines bundled inside the app — nobody in your circle can tell whether you are in Bangkok or Chiang Mai, because the app is not told either.
Where it lives. In the iCloud account of whoever started the circle, shared with its members through Apple's own sharing. We have no server, no access and no way to request it.
Leaving. Settings ▸ Travel circle ▸ Leave this circle. Your row is deleted first, so you disappear from everyone's map straight away rather than being left behind in the last country you were seen in. If you started the circle, leaving ends it for everyone — the share is yours and nobody else can host it.
If you ask the app to reconstruct past trips from your photo library, it reads the dates and places recorded in your photos on your device. No photo and no photo data is uploaded. Results are shown to you for approval before anything is saved.
Purchases are handled entirely by Apple. We never see your payment details. The app stores only whether Pro is unlocked.
Delete the app and the on-device data goes with it. To remove the iCloud copy, use Settings ▸ Apple Account ▸ iCloud ▸ Manage Storage on your device. If you are in a travel circle, leave it first — deleting the app alone leaves your last published row where the other members can still see it.
Nomad Limit is rated 4+ and collects nothing from anyone, of any age. Counting for a child on your own phone (Settings ▸ Travellers) stores their name and trips exactly like your own — on your device and in your own iCloud — and never publishes them anywhere.
If this policy ever changes, the updated version will appear here with a new date. As long as the app collects nothing, there is little to change.
